Gustl Amann was a herbal pioneer. Even today we follow his original recipe. This unique herbal composition is made from gentian root, sage leaves, sage leaves, galagant root, St. John’s wort, cloves, black pepper, sweet calamus root, hibiscus blossoms, holy thistle, common centaury, garden Angelica, nutmeg, walnuts, eucalyptus, oranges, cardamom and juniper – as well as, to complete the circle, further small mysteries.

Served at a drinking temperature of 16-20°C in cognac balloons, the Tyrolean Bauern Bitter fully develops its classy natural aroma in flavour and taste and adds a noble touch to your social gathering.
Many herbs, seeds, roots and berries are gathered on our behalf by the herbal collectors in the valleys and from the high-meadows of the Tyrolean mountainous region. The freshly picked herbs are then cautiously macerated, i.e. submerged in alcohol for many weeks, so that the valuable substances can be extracted from the plants.
The individual herbal extracts are then poured into vats and allowed to mature. Then, the essence are cautiously mixed, following a specific recipe – “married” in the professional jargon. Through this gentle treatment the herbal substances are preserved in the extracts.
