About the Fruit Brandy

The fruits for our fruit brandy come from Vinschgau and the region around Tramin in South Tyrol. The sun-ripened and hand-picked fruits, in interplay with a cautious and lengthy ripening process, make “Unser Herzstück” fruit brandy so excellent and wholesome!

 

Only the best quality produce (Herzstück) from the distillation process is used in the making of this Tyrolean Fruit Brandy, for only in this so-called inner core or “heart” the natural aromas remain absolutely pure and unadulterated.

What does cuvée mean?

The term „cuvée“ originates from the French language and refers to the substance of the fermentation vat (= cuve). In the German-speaking areas cuvée is a synonym for blend, marriage or melange (mixture), when, for example, a variety of different fruit are utilised as a mixture in the production of brandy. The “blended” brandy is designated as cuvée.

 


Why a blend?

The original idea behind the blending of distillates into a cuvée is to improve the quality of the end-product; in this manner very full-bodied, taste-intensive components can be blended with a lighter and fruitier lot. An optimally merged cuvée tastes better than separate component parts on their own. The characteristics of the individual components like fruit features, alcohol content, residual sweetness etc. complement each other to achieve a harmonious whole.
